In addition, Dottie led the development of a set of diagnostic tools for nonprofit Web sites centered around user experience, accessibility, and design best practices. She has also led the creative strategy to both client site visual design and campaign messaging for numerous clients ranging from issue and consumer advocates to unions and think tanks. Further, she has developed trainings in online advocacy for clients including Human Rights First.

Dottie brings over 10 years of nonprofit management and strategic consulting experience, as well as several years' experience in the nonprofit sector. In the early 1990s, Dottie worked with the Center for Environmental Citizenship where she pioneered their online presence and electronic list management, as well as coordinated field outreach efforts and public materials. She has also worked for both the League of Conservation Voters and The Nature Conservancy.

Dottie holds a BA in Environmental Studies from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

While not developing effective Web solutions, Dottie enjoys photography, birding, and racing in triathlons. She is living out her dream of being close to both the marsh and the beach by living on St. Simons Island, Georgia, with her husband John. They share their love for the outdoors with their dog, Laika, and a finch, Sable.

Why “Sawgrass Strategies”?

Named for the gentle but sturdy grasses that occur in marshes in the coastal Southeast, to us sawgrass represents beauty and resiliency in times of change. As the environment has changed around it, sawgrass stands the test of time and helps to serve as a critical stabilizing species for the entire habitat. And so, Sawgrass serves our clients to bring the same resiliency to their businesses in these times of changing technology.
